Red Hat 7.2 Install Problems
This is my first time trying Linux and I am attempting to set up a dual boot between 98 and Red Hat 7.2 (Windows on hd1, Linux on hd2). I get all the way to the package install (and once to the bootloader install), but it locks up at random times. Both the CDROM light and the Hard Drive LED come on solid during the lockup. My personal guess is that my motherboard is crap (I cannot install 2000 and 98 locks up all the time), but I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions? Here are my specs:
ECS K7VMA Athlon 1.2GHz SB Live! 5.1 ATI Raedon VE Primary Master: Maxtor Diamondmax 40GB Primary Slave: Generic 16X DVD (installing from this drive) Secondary Master: Lite-On 12x10x32 Secondary Slave: Maxtor Diamondmax VL 60GB (installing to this drive) I also tried switching some of the drives around to see if that was the problem, but it did no good. It actually led to a gray screen lockup instead of a normal one. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |
Check your memory module
By trying to replace it with another Dimm module or so? A lot of times when things go bad with all OS Memory is to blame. Good Luck |
