Red Hat 7.1 Install error - insufficient disk space
 

What could be some of the reason why I'm consisently getting a Insufficient Disk Space error when loading Red Hat 7.1. I have partition my drive 2 gb drive using RH fdisk as follows (32 mb /boot, 400 swap space, the rest to /) . The Packages I have choosen to install say they require 701 mb. I believe I should have more then enough disk space. I have also choosen to , besides othe packages, the glibc, libs, egacs versions 2.1 for an Oracle database install. The furtherest I get is when it's done loading the image. Any help would be great appreciated.

not sure why it would give you that error.. but you could try making a smaller /boot.. i usually make mine about 16 meg.. unless your gonna have a few different kernels to boot from or whatever.. also you can always make your swap smaller.. i usually make mine about 100 megs...
does it start loadiing packages or does it give the error right prior to installing the packages.. ??

It doesn't load any packages...the error always comes up right after or just before it's done "loading image to disk". I would make the swap space smaller but Oracle calls for 400 mb of swap space.

But have you formatted the drive's?

I can imagine that when the drive's are not formatted the disk looks to small

I'm open to stupid replies.... I believe as part of the install it formats the paritions....but now that you mention it, I'm wondering if you need to tell it to format all the paritions.... does anybody know????

I believe I have found the problem on red hat Bugzilla site. It has to do with my beautiful Compaq Deskpro 2000!!!!:( :smash:
