Recovering info. with a live CD

I have a windows box that will not work for longer than 2 minutes. I picked up a knoppix live cd to recover needed info worked great. I can not figure out how to save info to a floppy or Burn CD. Can anyone help me with this. I am still new to linux.

May I suggest using a flash drive to save the data? Since the live Knoppix CD is occupying the CD drive you can't burn a CD, and floppies are unreliable, very small capacity, and often just don't work.

A USB flash dive would be cheap to buy, easy to find, and even the smallest ones have far more storage capacity than floppies.

Once the PC is running with the Knoppix CD, insert the flash drive into any USB port and it will be detected automaticly. Then you drag and drop the files you want to save and they will be copied to the flash drive.

You can find them in any computer store like Staples.
Or you can find them online:

that is not quite true...

if you happen to have enough ram, you can entirely load the knoppix cd to ram and thus use your cd/dvd writer. using a usb-disk is not bad either.
