Recover deleted files in Windows with Linux (Live)

Hi!

Is it possible to recover files that have been deleted in windows (from trash can) with linux programmes or a linux live version I can just run before booting windows, so I can "search" for the file on the windows partition with the live DVD?

Thanks.

Sure. Since you didn't mention the FS here's some tools:
Rescue tools for files on Ext2, Ext3, NTFS, FAT:
Foremost: http://foremost.sourceforge.net/foremost.html
Magic Rescue: http://jbj.rapanden.dk/magicrescue/
The Sleuth Kit: http://www.sleuthkit.org/sleuthkit/ (really a last resort option)

Rescue tools for FAT:
Fatback: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/b...ack-1.3.tar.gz

Rescue tools for NTFS:
NTFSUndelete (part of ntfsprogs): http://man.linux-ntfs.org/
