Recordmy desktop, start and finish a recording?

Good day, I have recordmydesktop on Fedora 21, qt and gtk. I have tried to make a recording of Cisco Packet Tracer in wine. I selected the area, pressed record, while packet Tracer was going, and pressed save, and chose a name for the file. However the border remains on the screen until after a restart, and looking in my files there is no record of a recording. What need I do?

It's been a long time since I used recordmydesktop, so this is just a shot in the dark, but, when I did use it, I had to use it in conjunction with jack.
