Recording VOIP streams?
I have a Dell Inspirion 5100 Laptop with an Dell 82801DB/DBL/DBM AC'97 Audio Controller.
Uses the Intel 8x0 drivers. I am using SuSE 9.2 with latest kernel updates.
I can get VOIP working fine, but I cannot record. If I open krecord or run record from the shell, it just freezes up until I put down the phone. Audacity says it cannot access the sound card.
I tried fiddling with the read/write options in kphone and the various codecs in SJ phone.
I tried disabling and enabling the sound system from within the kde control centre and tried
making it high priority and enabling "full duplex".
I even tried fiddling with the IRQ bug flags in YAST.
None of this made any difference. I am annoyed because my windows-using friends can record their convos.
I do not know if:
1)There is an IRQ conflict meaning that two applicaitons cannot use the sound card - apic/acpi problems?
2)The sound card is not cabable of sharing resources between programs itself
3)There is a conflict between the drivers - I know Kphone and Krecord both use OSS, I dont know what SJPhone uses - presumably direct access?
Anybody got any suggestions?
Despite my post count, I am not a newbie. I have been using Linux for over 2 years now.
