recording from pulseaudio

why not have a simple and straight forward way to record from pulseaudio digitally as opposed to the analog method that is used now?

all the links there are either to audacity which is the non-simple method (it's not just a simple command to just do it) or about some means that uses the monitor input (which is cross connected in analog in the hardware, which is not what i want). how about a "--all-digital" option for parecord. it could create a fake "output" device that goes to itself.

simple means simple usability. command line seems complicated by many. so i should clarify that i am talking about the CLI realm. it can and now days should assume an X windows (or soon Wayland) environment, which may provide its own audio interface.

if i am remotely connected via X (in an ssh tunnel for security) to a server in a machine room, playing audio there may play sound in the machine room. if audio play through is added to X i might be able to have the sound play without downloading the file. it would be good for it to know how to play through that. PA should automatically do that, anyway.
