hello,
i just checked - and i don't see it either (curses!!) it has been depricated from fc4 (https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg02324.html) . That thread suggests using glame -> http://glame.sourceforge.net/index.var or yum install glame - it is in the freshrpms repo. but i don't see an option for gstreamer... let me look around

I've got gstreamer installed - rhythmbox needed it to play mp3s
I found this link: http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/freshrp...2.fc4.ppc.html
but yumex finds glame in the dries repo. (installing it as I write).

Hi Kirmonkey and others

Quote:
Audacity with input set to VOL will do the job, it records everything passing through the soundcard. There may be a better way to use it, haven't looked.
I've tried audacity to record from a playing CD and from RealPlayer playing a radio station web site 'listen again'.

The display doesn't move. It's like I'm recording onto a tape and the tape isn't moving. I end up with a recording that is some tiny fraction of a second long, and sounds like a small electric spark when played back.

How do I get the tape to move?

Thanks
Alan

Hi Paddy

Thanks, but I didn't need streamripper -- I'll take a look at it though.

The 'tape would not move' because there was nothing to record.

I've posted the solution at http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...06#post2055006

Thanks for the streamtuner tip. I'm a language teacher (mainly English) and got especially interested in recoring streaming audio as it appears to be the best source of real everyday English for some business classes. (So far I've found some great streams at bbc.co.uk)

I've not been able to use xmms to listen to streams though. Any tips? RealPlayer works fine for me, but I'm always curious for other sollutions.
