recompiling php

Hi everyone, I´m trying to recompile php to include GD. The problem im having is that when I rebuild php everything stays the same as it was, nothing new is installed. my config.nice file shows the updated configuration but a phpinfo script shows the old one along with the original build date.

Im wondering if theres some temp files or something that I need to delete to get this to work but I have no idea what/where they would be.

Can anyone offer any insight? ive only been using linux a few weeks so im still pretty clueless

Thanks,

Kris.

Did you provide the configure option to build the Apache 2.0 module? (--with-apxs[=FILE]). I had a similar problem because I am running Apache-AdvancedExtranet server that came with my Mandrake 10 system. I finally had to download regular Apache and build the Apache module, then copy the mod_php4.so (or whatever the file is called) to the appropriate location for advx. Maybe you have the same situation?
