Recommendations for personal wiki software?
I'm thinking about setting up a personal wiki to, you know, organize myself and keep track of things...whatever you do with wikis. I started writing a simple one in Ruby as a project, but it's going to take a while to get anywhere and I want to start using something now.
What wiki software do people prefer?
Things that would be really nice:
* I'll want to serve it so I can reference/edit it from work and different computers - so preferrably edits should be password/ssl protected
* Mind map/graphical representations
* easily insert and edit mathematics (and code)
* Bonus marks if it has a personalizable favicon or is related to emacs in some way.
Any recommendations? Should I be using something industrial-strength like MediaWiki or MoinMoin, or is there a more lightweight solution?

I've decided to use DokuWiki because everything is saved plaintext (no database needed) and Lighttp to serve it. Another really good site for comparing wikis is Wikimatrix. Also check out this thread. on the ArchLinux forums.

Hey sam glad you found a solution, but the one I use is called TiddlyWiki and is a single HTML file that contains the entire wiki. No database or even a server needed if you wanted to carry it around on a USB drive, you could also slap it onto a server but then you would need to deal with the password protection another way.

Luminotes personal wiki
It may not meet all of your criteria (no graphical mind mapping yet), but for a lightweight personal wiki, Luminotes is one of the best options out there. (Disclaimer: I am a developer.) The hosted version of Luminotes lets you edit your notes via SSL encryption from any computer with a browser. And please let me know if you think of any potential improvements.

If you are still looking you may wish to consider Mindtouch Deki. It's open source and you can run it on your own system or you can get a free online account at wiki.is
