Recommendations for Pandora/mp3 player with Android remote control feature?
I am looking to setup a box to play music from Pandora and mp3 audio files over a wifi connection which will also have the ability to control the player from an Android client.
I have briefly looked at XBMC and Boxee, but I have no need to play video files, so I not sure if those are overkill for just playing Pandora.
Any other suggestions for a solution? The simpler the better. ;-)
Plays audio from the major online streaming services, has server software to stream from machines on the local network (which has a native Linux version), and now offers a Android application to control the player remotely. Sounds like exactly what you are looking for, and the price isn't unreasonable (though I suppose that is a matter of opinion).
I am looking for something that is not hardware dependent.
I have an old laptop running Ubuntu, which will reside upstairs in a loft area next to the stereo. I want the staff downstairs to be able to control Pandora (change station, next song, and volume) from their cell phones.
Tried a few options, but so far no luck. RemoteDroid won't work because the laptop screen won't be visible from downstairs. Gmote doesn't work because it can only control VLC.
