Angry received signal 11, exiting....


Im running gentoo with a 2.4.20-rc5 kernel end everything works, but... 3d applikations and especially enemy territory crashes randomly. Only the applikation not X (or gnome) and allways with that message:

received signal 11, exiting...
shutdown tty console

My system is:
VIA kt133, athlon TB 1200, Gforce4 ti 4200, isapnp sb16

any ideas?

trying doing chmod 777 /dev/dsp and reply if that fixes your problem or not

nope sorry, same thing:

/dev/dsp is a link so it can only be 555. But i set the device it links to; to 777

-disabelling punkbuster does not help either

but thanks anyway

Solved!

It turns out that this error comes from either cpu or gfx when overheating... (How embarrasing i should have thought of that)

Lifting of the case did the trick :-)

I do hope this will help someone else in my position.
