rebuild .rar video....

Hi, I figured a quick search would yield some answers here, because I'm sure other people as clueless as myself must have run into this problem for the first time, and knowing linux, there is probably a howto and a man page for exactly this. Well. Google let me down. I searched here, no joy.

Of course I've downloaded a torrent of a movie, and it arrived as 42 separate .rar files. How does one go about rebuilding them into an .avi or iso ? I even figured that vlc could handle any video issue that came up, but it was no help either. It did play some video, but not in order, and then vlc crashed anyway. Used the "open directory" option. Didn't work.

I'm using kubuntu 7.10 if it matters.

Thanks much.....feel like a newbie again.

David

rar is an archive. The program to extract it is in the repos, you probably need the non-free rar version (also in the repos; maybe you have to activate universe or something) After that I think you can right-click - extract-here on any of the files, and it will look for the other files and extract it

Thanks. Just for anyone else having trouble with this, the command is

unrar e somevideo.rar

and it does it all for you.

Thanks much...

David
