is your computer a stand alone machine?? or is it on a network with a system administrator???

if its just your home computer that you use log in as root and change the password to your regular user name!!

if its on a network go and see your network administrator and he'll sort it 4 you!

I set the computer to run a network I have set up at home... so I am the administrator, but I can not access the system to change anything.

If you don't know the "root" password, you can reboot, and at the first boot screen, type "vmlinuz init 1" and it should boot up to runlevel 1 with you logged in as "root". Type "passwd" type in the desired password at the prompt then type "init 5" if you want to bring the host up to the normal runlevel, (assuming you had the GUI already setup).
