Ah yes the crashing realplayer.
It's a real nuisance since the problem is not obvious.
If you had done a Google search then you would have found the answer on how to solve the problem, as I had to do.
It is all due to, if I rememeber correctly, the threading model in the kernel
changing from when your installed realplayer version was built and the new
code being introduced into the kernel.

Unpack the tar.gz archive file and install the appropriate share library
files .so.* for your installation RealPlayer8 or OnePlayer as per the
instructions in the README/INSTALL file.
And not only will your realplayer fire up without crashing, you will
