Realplayer Issues

I am facing this problem with any distro I try. I have two computers and it happens in both of them.

If I try to play an mp3 in realplayer the audio is choppy.

This is what actually happens:-
I add a mp3 file and start playing in Realplayer. The mp3 starts playing ok for the 1st second. Then it chopps and the playback slider moves to 4th second and then to the 9th second......then to 13th second...and so on. (as if in fast forward mode). And after some time it stops playing either in the middle or because it reaches the end of the song quickly. And in the meantime, in the statusbar keeps appearing/flashing "100% congestion".
I ran the "top" command while running Realplayer with an mp3 file.
As the choppy mp3 played the %CPU jumped from 1 to 20 and the %MEM jumped from 0.5 to 1.5. Mostly at 20% CPU, most of the choppy mp3's stop playing completely in the middle of playing in Realplayer.

If I try to play a wav file I get an error
Code:

Component Missing
The player does not have the capabilities to play back this content
The following components are required:
audio/x-pn-windows-acm

All other players (Kmplayer, Mplayer, Amarok) play mp3, wav everything perfectly.

Look at the RealPlayer settings. It may be that the buffer size is too small. As the mp3 plays, the buffer goes empty and has to be refilled from the mp3 you are trying to play. Each time the buffer goes empty, you get the chop.

I suggest this as a possible cause of the problem because I've had the same happen when trying to rip music cds. When the buffer went empty, the mp3 was chopped. By increasing the buffer size, I was able to prevent the chop.

You may be able to do something similar in RealPlayer.

I have issue with Realplayer 10 playing video in Fedora 3. Vides such as .avi .mpg .mpeg,..wmv cannot be played in the player at all. Always give me the error msg - component missing....
When I check in the plugins, there is a whole list of xxx.so files, but i dont know which xx.so file is doing what? There isnt much i can set in the 'preferences' either. Can someone advise me how to get my RP to play videos. Is it the plugins issue or the codecs issues??By the way. it can play audio (mp3, wav, etc... )
