Does anyone know of a program for Linux that has the same use as Realplayer, like downloader, and all that jazz. Seeing as Realplayer is no longer supported for Linux. Or if someone could walk me through the download I would appreciate it. Thanks!
You can download sources and compile it for your system. I installed the *.rpm version on my Slackware box using Slackware's rpm2tgz utility (first time I ever used it--I want my Old Time Radio!).
I downloaded the *.deb (UK English). It seems to be a valid download but I couldn't install it on the computer I was using because the package is 32-bit and the computer isn't. If you have a 32-bit machine, it's worth a look.
As regards the integrated downloads and stuff like that there, I've never had any desire to do that stuff, so someone else will have to address that question.
Do you know of anything I can use for downloading? I have VLC so my media player needs are met, I just want something to download videos from the web, I use minitube for youtube so thats dealt with but other videos Im not sure, any suggestions? Ive been doing some checking but I was hoping someone here could suggest a good program that theyve used or are using.

I tend to use wget for downloading larger files, like videos. It allows you to stop downloads and resume later, has a speed setting to prevent it using all your bandwidth and a quota if you need it.
Wow, last time I looked jdownloader could d/l from youtube, but it was using some plugin to do that. That was a few years ago.....
It is actually pretty easy, just set up JDownloader to watch the clipboard, then right-click on the Youtube video and select "Copy video URL". JDownloader will check the URL and give you some options which type you want to download (IIRC MP4, WebM, Flash and MP3).
