OK.... I was installing packages from my bootable cd's in KDE 3.1 in mandrakes "install software from your Cd's" it was pretty cool, got some new software. Then when I opened the K start menu in the bottom left corner, all the options icons look like directory folders, and about half of my programs are missing!!!!!!!! I dont know whats going on. For example, in Networking> there used to be like 5 browsers to choose from, now only 1. From Media> there were about 4 apps, now only 1, instead of 4 games, there are now 2. Etc. PLease help me!
Now that is tough. I don't know, but can you do update-menus from outside X? Try going to the console by using alt+control+f1 and try issueing the command from there. I'm not sure if it wil work, but you can give it a try.
