Question Real Player

Hello
I'm having trouble getting the Real Player plugin to work in Firefox. About:Plugins shows Real Player but the files it handles are run by mPlayer. I have Real Player installed in /usr/lib/local Realplayer with a /plugin directory. mPlayer plugin files are in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins. mplayer is inconsistent in reliability and I'd like to see if Real Player works better. Any help/suggestions are appreciated

Thanks

You should be able to configure which plugin is used for various mime-types in your Firefox Settings > Content > File Types. If you have the mplayer plugin installed, there should be a whole slew of types in there.

You can also right click on the mplayer interface whenever the plugin is playing something and call up its settings, where you can check off the various media types you want it to handle.

If nothing else works, try removing the mplayer plugin completely. Then it should default to real for everything.

Have you configured RealPlayer as a plugin?

Create symbolic links in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins to /usr/local/real/mozilla/nphelix.so and /usr/local/real/mozilla/nphelix.xpt.
