Reading Windows syslogs from Linux

Hello everyone!
I'm running a Knoppix LiveCD and attempting to read the .evt files that constitute the windows syslogs of the windows system that Knoppix is running on. Does anyone know how to look through the syslogs in an organized fashion? (long story short, i'm attempting to get info on the machine without having the machine log my queries)
I appreciate the help! Thanks!
