Reading id3 tags from JuK in itunes

Hi,

I am using JuK in KDE 3.2 to manage my music collection. I have recently bought an iPod that I want filled with stuff from JuK. There is an error in Mandrake 10.0 making it impossible to connect the iPod properly. I have therefore made the files available on a Samba server, and are running iTunes on a Win XP computer. iTunes sees the files and syncs them to the iPod - but the tag is lost. With 3000+ files this makes it impossible to manage the iPod. I guess it is the id3 tag version that is different.

I have done some research. Windows Mediaplayer will read the tag, and what is more, if I change say the comment and saves it, the tag will be visible to iTunes. I have tried the same with RealPlayer and MusicMatch, they will either not see it or not make it available to iTunes. As Windows Mediaplayer only edits one file at a time it is a hopeless project to go through all music.

Does anyone know of a good program that let you change id3 tag version in batch, or has anyone found a better way out.

You could try KTag Although I'm not sure how good it is at batching.

Hi,

thnx for suggestion, I downloaded it and tried. It could change one album at the time, but it did not help. However, it seems I had overlooked an option i iTunes, right clicking on one (or many) song(s) brings up a submenu to convert ID3 tags. When I ask to that with tagtype "none" it will read the tag and make songname-artist-album and year available. This solved my problem.

Case closed
