Reading a PPC Mac Mini disk on Intel Systems

Does anyone have any ideas about how I can read a disk that was taken from a PPC styles MacMini on any Intel powered Linux System.
The Mini was running Fedora 8 but it has died. I'm looking at getting some of the data off the disk.

The partition table is not one recognised by FDISK so I can't mount it normally.

Any ideas?

What died, the disk or the Mini? If it was the disk, the partition table may be corrupted as part of the failure. If that is the case, then what you really should do is create a bit by bit image of the file using dd_rescue, then run testdisk on the image to see if you can repair the partition table.

If the disk is fine, Mac's filesystem should just be an HFS+ partition. You should be able to just mount it by using mount -t hfsplus <blah blah>.

fdisk can not handle GPT formated drives. Was the drive reformated or converted to a MBR, hybrid GPT/MBR? There is support for GPT drives but you did not mention what distribution / version you are are running on the computer to read the drives contents. It may not have GPT default support.

It is the Motherboard that has died. The disk seems ok.

The distro is Fedora 9.
The Linux partitions are ext3 but the partition table as has been said, is not the notmal DOS Type.
I have tried to read the disk on an Intel Powered Mac, and X86 XP and an X86 Fedora 10 System but none of them can read the partition table. Thus without that, you can't read the data in the partitions.

Solved

I was able to 'fit' the disk nto another PPC Mini and after booting it, dump all the contents to a Firewire HDD.
I was then able to read the contents on an Intel Mini.
