rdesktop 1.6 and windows server 2008
I can get a connection to Windows server 2008 using rdesktop 1.6, but after a few seconds the connection is dropped and I get a message of and internal licensing error. I think rdesktop 1.6 uses rdp 5.x, and WIndows server 2008 uses rdp 6, but there must be some way to get a linux terminal server client to connect to Windows Server 2008. Please help.

You need to tweak the registry on Windows Server 2008:

SecurityLayer entry under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp => 1,

UserAuthentication => 0
'Hope that helps .. PSM

This tweak has NOTHING to do with Linux, and EVERYTHING to do with RDP compatibility. You'd encounter exactly the same issue with Win2k or XP clients as you're experiencing with rdesktop.

Thanks for the response. I was looking forward to getting this working, but ..........

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp is a folder containing several registry entries. I don't know how to change the value of the RDP-Tcp folder.

And UserAuthentication was already set = 0

I welcome any guidance.
