RAID 1 on RedHat Linux ES 3

Folks,

I created a RAID 1 during RH Linux ES 3 with two partitions during the installation. After creating a RAID device and software raidfile system type, the wizard asked me to mount the / for OS and I made / as a ext3 filesystem.

Is it necessary to create software RAID for / ?

Thanks

Robot

Hi,

You need to mount volumes onto your raid partitions just as you would in a 'normal' linux installation or a LVM.
Look at the raid partition as a container where you can mount volumes onto.
