Radeon and Modem configuration problems
Hi,
I have two problems setting up my linux box with Slackware 8.0, kernel 2.4.5. Firstly, I have an ATI Radeon 7000 (Maya) graphics card, but I can't get X to use it. When the kernel boots there is a message "agpart: unsupported VIA chipset (device id 3099)" "[drm:radeon_init] *ERROR* Cannot initialize agpart module" Also it seems to think max meory on the card is 94Mb, when it is actually 64Mb Also when I compile the kernel to use radeon support as a module, it won't load the module. Manual attempts to do so yield messages to the effect of "Can't allocate memory" How can I get the kernel to load the radeon module correctly? Secondly I have an internal Connexant SoftK56 modem, It shows up correctly when I run "lspci -v", but in windows (98) it uses COM3 (/dev/ttyS2) but there is no "/dev/ttyS2" device in the dev filesystem. As far as I understand this is because windows emulates aport for the modem. Is there any way to get around this? What do I need to do to either get /dev/ttyS2 to show up in the dev filesystem, or to get the modem itslef to react as if on one of the already present serial ports. Thanks James |
