Quotas by folder

I am running Redhat 8 and samba.
I want to set up quotas for some directories but not others. For instance...

/sambaShares/public
no quota

/sambaShares/users/bob
1 Gig Quota

The problem is that bob would be able to save things to the public folder and his own user dir. If I set quotas by user then won't all the files in both his own share and public add to his quota limit? Is there a way to set quotas by directory instead?

Thanks for your help!

you can set group quota on the users group and make all the users who have access to the directory members of that group

So I would have to make a group for each user and set the quotas on that group.

i.e. bob is a member of bobgroup
and bobgroup has a disk quota of 1 Gig
bob has access to public
and bobgroup has access to bob's user share

is that what you are say? sorry if I didnt understand, I'm new to this.

another solution could be repartition your hard disk and mount
/sambaShares/public and
/sambaShares/users on separate partitions and set the user quota of 1GB for bob only for second partition (mounted on /sambaShares/users)
