Quit console program

Hello guys,
I need your help regarding exiting consle program.
I'm not sure if this the right place to ask, but on HP unix machine when I open console window and type command to start one program that basically works in infinite loop don't know how to quit it.
One way would be to simply close whole console window, but I wonder is there any "standard" way to try.
What would you recommend?

You could use "kill -SIGQUIT <process number>" to send a signal for the program to quit.

You can also use the jobspec instead of the process number.
For the bash shell at least, type "help kill" for more information. There also is a "man kill" man page and you can get a list of signals from "kill -l".

Does Ctrl+C or Ctrl+D help?

try ctrl-h or ctrl-p since this is a hp machine : )
