Quick Question....Easy Answer

I've been searching but not finding what I need.

I'm looking for a small program that will run in the background and notify me when there is new mail on my POP3 server so that I know to go check my all my searching, I only learned a lot about fully functional email programs.

Anyone got a recommendation for me on what program to use?

Let's not forget GKrellM, which has a nice animated mail notifier. And the rest of it is handy too!
