When installing GTK+: it requires Glib, Pango and Atk libraries. do I need to untar all four (4) programs into the same directory or should the set of three programs be installed into subdir's under the main GTK directory, or what should I do?
I wasn't sure if I should have posted this under this forum or in the Newbies...but here it is. I hope that somebody will be able to shed some light.
You need to install them before trying to install GTK+. It doesn't matter where you unpack them, as when you install them they will be installed in a default directory specified in the makefile. You can override this using the "./configure --prefix=/directory/where/you/want" argument, but it is usually best to leave it, as programs will look for libraries and other files according to the defaults.
