Questions: Ekiga, yePhone App for Android, Magic Jack Alternatives
Can anyone explain how Ekiga works? I think I can make free phone calls to landlines/cell phones but in order to have a phone number and SMS I would need a carrier? How would that work, for example with Verizon or T-Mobile?
I also found an app Called yePhone in the App store. I am just as lost with that as I am with Ekiga.
My goal is to cut my monthly bill down to the lowest possible. I may go with a cheaper tablet data plan but I am not sure how much data voice or sms would actually take. As far as accessing the internet I can just use secured wi-fi when I am able to. I would just use the Tablet Plan for calls/sms. But I am not sure I can even get a plan to begin with. I am new to tablets and my Samsung Note 8.0 GTN5110 I think may only be WiFi. I have only had it for a few days and I am still in the process of learning all I can about it. First was working out the best security, rooting it and than encrypting the tablet and MicroSD card. Now I am moving on with more.
I did try Magic Jack but there are some billing issues and I have to wait for a refund by next week. Or go through the complaint motions with my bank, which will take longer. I was hoping to at least use that for voice but now I am wondering if there are any better alternatives. Anyone have thoughts or ideas on any of this?
