question regarding relocatable kernel
 

Hi,

Building my first kernel. Common sense say that if I dont know what it is, leave the defaults. However, since I want to keep the kernel smaller if possible; well, could someone enlighten me?

I am running an amd 64 x2.

If you don't know what something is then google or ask specific questions. My advice would be start with a rather complete kernel, then spend time researching specific subsystems working out what you can remove in small chucks.

PS Keep a known working kernel as a backup that you can boot, should your own rolled version fail to boot.
