Question for those IRC Chat people

So i have Fedora 2 and really getting into Linux, love the OS, hoping to slip into Slackware once i get my feet a little wetter. I am trying out all my programs and decide to see what all the hype is about IRC Chat. I setup a name, go into a random EFNET server, go to Linux-Support room hoping to listen to Q&A or hopefully listen to problems getting fixed. Ok cool 75 people in the room, an hour later there is zero conversation, just people coming and going, so i talk in the channel, no one replies ? WTF is up with this ? Is this how Chat always is, no chat ?

i believe thats how most irc servers are, just an idling place. for best support, its best just to post on the forums.

Maybe you just picked a bad channel.. there are literally dozens upon dozens of different Linux channels and more specific channels for different projects, you should try looking around more, etc.
