Question about Thunderbird

I've read all the T'Bird help info and I've got a hard head I guess. I can't figure out how to set up T'Bird to delete or move to junk before or as the known junk messages are loaded. That is so I don't have to delete them manually. Help?

In mine I can goto Edit > Preferences and from there select Privacy. In there is a tab called Junk and in that check a box called When I mark messages as junk. Then select the Delete them option.

Mine won't allow me to mark the "delete" box.

Is this box checked? When I mark messages as junk.
If so then I am not sure. What version of Thunderbird do you have?
Maybe if using some extensions maybe one of them overcede this option.

Got the same version myself and can check the box for delete. If you a second account on the system you might login as that and open thunderbird from that. Check to see if you can check the box from that account. If not create one for temporay testing. Then compare the differences from yours to the new.
