question about installing mplayer.
Hi,
I'm running KDE on a SuSe 9.1 Pro 64 bit on my AMDFX machine and I'm trying to get a working install of mplayer. I configured and compiled mplayer using: linux32 ./configure --as='as --32' --cc='cc -m32' make make install because I wanted to support win32 dll file formats but when I went to play my avi files it didn't work, the top of the screen became filled with black lines and sound was played but the picture wasn't displayed. so I tried ./configure --with-x11libdir=/usr/X11R6/lib64 --enable-gui make make install and got the following output from configure: Detected operating system: Linux Detected host architecture: x86_64 Checking for cc version ... 3.3.3, ok Checking for mplayer binary name ... Thanks for any help. |
Re: question about installing mplayer.
Quote:
Just get(google) RPMs for Xine or Mplayer. You can still install all codecs after that... Use Ogle for DVDs: http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/downloads.shtml |
I already did, problem is, I've found mplayer but not all it's dependancies. specifically libdv.so.2 (which I'm pretty sure I installed and it doesn't recognize)
should I just ignore and risk my system? that just doesn't seem right. |
here are all the RPM? you?l need:
http://packman.links2linux.org/?action=index that link has everything except the libcss for DVD decryption that you will need to do a Google search for |
From reading other posts it seems like this is blasphemy, but....
I get the following: [CODE] libdv.so.2 not available Required by: MPlayer requires libdv.so.2 Conflict Resolution: ( ) Remove the Referring Package Do Not Install MPlayer ( ) Ignore Conflict and Risk System Inconsistencies liblirc_client.so.0 not available Required by: MPlayer requires liblirc_client.so.0 Conflict Resolution: ( ) Remove the Referring Package Do Not Install MPlayer ( ) Ignore Conflict and Risk System Inconsistencies liblzo.so.1 not available Required by: MPlayer requires liblzo.so.1 Conflict Resolution: ( ) Remove the Referring Package Do Not Install MPlayer ( ) Ignore Conflict and Risk System Inconsistencies MPlayer 1.0pre5-pm.1 conflict Unresolved Requirements: MPlayer requires libdv.so.2 MPlayer requires liblirc_client.so.0 MPlayer requires liblzo.so.1 Conflict Resolution: ( ) Do Not Install MPlayer ( ) Ignore Conflict and Risk System Inconsistencies [\CODE] these cannot be found on packman linux yet when I try installing from the packman linux rpm they pop up on the dependancy list. That being said... I've installed libdv.so.2 several times. AND IT'S NOT RECOGNIZED! I've tried the rpms, they were the first thing I went for. Then I tried the compile. With much effort I got a command line version that played sound. All I want to do is play avi's and dvds. I heard Mplayer was the best (and one of the few) programs to use to do that. |
Why not just disable compiling the GUI options... From your initial post it seems that is the only problem you're having...
--disable-gui |
mmmmmmmmmm dependencies. now that's why RPM's are rubbish.
the error your having at teh start is that as lhach says, you are specifically requesting the gui (which really is a waste of time IMHO) without having previously installed xfree86-devel or xorg-devel rpm's to allow compilatino with their libraries. |
