Cool question about gnome 2

Shortly, I want the Debian Gnome 2 to stay forever, to stay there fresh as every morning like in the past. I don't like mate. So what do you think? Where do I start? I think I could maintain it, but I don't know what kind of things you need to know.
Thanks in advanced.

This article from Linux Voice may give to a hint of the type of effort involved. (My gut feeling is that, if you do this, you will be your only customer.)

Have you tried Cinnamon? It's fork of Gnome 3 designed to look and behave like Gnome 2. I have used it and did not find it particularly annoying.

Full disclosure: I'm not a big fan of desktop environments; I prefer window managers. Nevertheless, I rather like MATE.

mate was created out of the precise same sentiment that you expressed, afaik.
how does it differ from actual gnome2 and why don't you like it?

I like Ubuntu Mate. The older version sucks compare with Ubuntu Mate.
