Question Quantian

I downloaded a image of Quantian, and want to load it onto my laptop.
Everytime I try to install it onto a fresh formated and patitioned harddrive it doesn't notice the disk in the drive. I have made the primary boot disk the cd drive, but it still does not recognize it. Does anyone know if the Quantian distro requires to be booted off of windows? That sounds very antiproductive.

sounds like you may have bad media, or improperly burned media. did you check the mdsum of the iso? have you tried the disk in more than one machine? how did you go about burning the iso?

I double right clicked on the iso image. It opened roxio and requested to complete the burn. I picked the speed and to disk at once.

(1) I have a cd with a knoppix folder on it. Should I take the boot files out of the folder and burn it straight onto the disk (excluding any file management e.g. directories, folders, etc)?
