qt/bbconf install problems

I am running Redhat 8.0 on my laptop and finally got blackbox working. I am trying to get bbconf installed because i hear its all the rage. to install bbconf i needed update my version of Qt i had installed. Trying to compile Qt from src (with thread support), i ./configure just fine. but when i try to make i run into a problem: About 30 seconds to a minute into the compile, the system crashes, machine shuts off. everytime without fail around the same time.. it's hard to tell what it's handling when it crashes. any suggestions?
