Qpopper install problems

Hello,

I'm trying to install qopper 4.0.3 onto my machine running Redhat 8.0.

Everything seems to work fine up until I type "make install" at which point I get the following:

/usr/bin/install -c -m 0644 -o root ./man/popper.8 /usr/local/man/man8/
/usr/bin/install: cannot create regular file `/usr/local/man/man8/': No such file or directory
make: *** [install] Error 1

Anyone else had this problem? I'm a bit of a linux newbie, although I'm learning everyday -- I poked around in the configuration files to see if I needed to change a directory or something, but they're pretty intimidating.

Where is man?

It seems that qpopper wants to install some man pages in /usr/local/man/man8 and you don't have that directory. Maybe your system keeps the man pages somewhere else.

I would use the mkdir command to create /usr/local/man/man8. Let qpopper install anything it wants there. Then move the qpopper man pages to wherever you really keep man pages.

Or instead of moving qpopper man you could add /usr/local/man to your MANPATH.

thanks

Yeah, that worked....that's the kind of question I should have been able to answer for myself. Sometimes linux frustration sets in, and I draw a complete blank. Thanks a lot for helping me out!
