qmail: root@domain: Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

Hey

I've just got qmail working nicely, however, emails to root@domain.com do not get there!

I followed the instructions and put my username (hamish) to the .qmail-root fle:

hamish@hamishnet hamish $ lsl -a /var/qmail/alias/
total 12K
drwxr-xr-x 3 alias qmail 184 May 11 13:11 .
drwxr-xr-x 9 root root 248 May 8 12:58 ..
drwx------ 5 alias qmail 120 May 8 08:39 .maildir
-rw-r--r-- 1 alias qmail 11 May 11 13:11 .qmail-mailer-daemon
-rw-r--r-- 1 alias qmail 11 May 11 13:11 .qmail-postmaster
-rw-r--r-- 1 alias qmail 7 May 11 13:11 .qmail-root

The postmaster and mailer-daemon aliases also have my username in them, and emails to mailer-daemon do come to my inbox.

Code:
hamish@hamishnet hamish $ cat /var/qmail/alias/.qmail-root
hamish
As you see, hamish is in the alias for root, yet I keep getting cronjob emails bounced saying:

Code:
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at hamishnet.homelinux.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

<root@hamishnet.homelinux.com>:
Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)

--- Below this line is a copy of the message.

<-- snip -->
Can anyone see the problem here? It looks fine to me.

Thanks in advance.
hamish

Try using a user instead of root

Hey

I solved the problem .I had only set the alias for using the "mail" command.

Instead, I needed to set it up for hte domain which the computer was serving. I did this using the qmail admin web page.
