Basically, I followed EVERY SINGLE STEP perciecly in the qmail installation guide on
http://www.lifewithqmail.org/lwq.html#installation
I ran the script and it reported that I had no errors
I have a process running on port 25
Here's where the problem is:
[root@xxx qmail]# telnet 127.0.0.1 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to 127.0.0.1.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.
Whoever the hell wrote qmail, DID YOU EVER THINK OF WRITING OUT ERROR MESSAGES? Sorry I am just so frustrated.
Btw speaking of error messages, if I try
ps -elf | grep errors
, I get this:
[root@xxx supervise]# ps -elf | grep errors
0 S root 11715 11712 0 76 0 - 496 pipe_w Jul24 ? 00:00:00 readproctitle service errors: .................................................................................................... .................................................................................................... ............
0 S root 23847 7398 0 75 0 - 1065 pipe_w 05:45 pts/5 00:00:00 grep errors
Also, if I try:
[root@xxx supervise]# qmailctl stat
/service/qmail-send: up (pid 17030) 4350 seconds
/service/qmail-send/log: up (pid 17031) 4350 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd: up (pid 23344) 3073 seconds
/service/qmail-smtpd/log: up (pid 17042) 4350 seconds
messages in queue: 0
messages in queue but not yet preprocessed: 0
Anybody knows why it closes the connection like that?
