Qmail install

Hello everyone!

I'm a newbie in qmail.
I am trying to install qmail with the step-by-step guide and got screw up Part 11 - Starting qmail. My problem is when i do
[root@africa salihou]# telnet localhost 110
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK <2569.1113598073@mail.el-shabazz.com>
user postmaster@mail.el-shabazz.com
+OK
pass salihou
-ERR authorization failed
Connection closed by foreign host.

that is what i get. And i don't remember in the process of the install if i have been asked for postmaster password.
I can log in vqadmin and qmailadmin without any problem.

Could somebody tell me what i am doing wrong? Also if possible how to retrieve or setup another postmaster password.

Thanks to all

Salihou from Cape Coast-Ghana West Africa

If you can login to qmailadmin, you should be able to assign a new password to the postmaster. You may also want to change the password since you posted the username/password here on this site.

I recommend checking the output of qmailctl stat and be sure everything is up for more than 1 second. Its possible that MySQL isn't running when it's needed for vpopmail backend. Post the output of "ps -ef". The howto you're using should also include tests to be sure that vpopmail is working properly with mysql. Check those too. Also check the logs. /var/log/qmail/qmail-pop3d/current and the like.
