Qemu Full Screen Problem SOLVED!

Using Debian 5.0. I compiled Qemu 0.10.4 ontop and it worked fine. I few weeks later I compiled a newer version of Qemu 0.10.5. Afterward, Qemu would only open in full screen mode. I ran find and erased all Qemu files in the system then reinstalled the default Qemu that comes with Debian 5.0 which is Now that one also comes up only in full screen mode. Additionally, the keyboard also does not work; it returns garbage when you type. Has anybody had the same problem?

I was running qemu under a root shell. I ran it under a regular user with `sudo qemu ...` then the qemu full screen problem went away. The qemu display does not work well if the user runs su as root; it goes into full screen mode and the keyboard does not work right.
