qemu dificulty with formatting image

I'm running Debian Lenny. I have qemu installed, and am trying to install windows 95 to a 1GB disk image so that I can play some older games and programs I have (they don't work with Wine). However, when I try to install it it says that the disk is not formatted to MS DOS. I have gone into FDISK and formatted it, but it still gives the same message.

Is there a way around this? Why might it be saying this?

Thanks!

Are you formatting it with Microsoft's fdisk or Linux's fdisk?

I was using fdisk within qemu, the Windows version of the program.

Using the MS tools is good. But I must not have been thinking clearly last night when I posted ... fdisk just partitions the disk. You need to run the MS command format to format one of the partitions.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but I did run across this thread which discusses installing win95 under qemu

The format key worked like a charm. Thanks!
