Trying to install PyChess from the deb package on the site. There are two debs with no clear information on which to use. I tried the longer which came up with three unmet dependencies. Now the shorter one states:

trying to overwrite '/usr/share/locale/is/LC_MESSAGES/', which is also in package python3-pychess 0.12.4-1
It must have tried to install because now I have that annoying red dot in the icon bar in Ubuntu 16.04 that says a package has unmet dependencies.

I tried dpkg -i with both debs.

Well a simple apt-get -f install solved the problem. Going to leave this thread open as I have further questions.

What is the difference between the two deb files?

What command would I use to install the other deb file so it doesn't try to overwrite the file listed above?

The first will use python version 2, whilst the second will require python version 3.
