PXE Boot server

Hi there Folks.

I am looking for some HOWTO: guide, that are able to instruct me of how to install and configure a Bootserver to install both Fedora and xp images on computers.

Both how to configure the server with the needed access and where to put in images and EVERYTHING.

i am running Fedora Core 10, and i am completely new into this. i have just installed it on my laptop.

I hope some of you ladies/gentlemen know wehere to find some sort of a guide or video tutorial for doing this.

i have searched @ google , for several days, and found some different guides. But none of them where able to teach me where to put images in for example.

I would mostly like to do it from Command-Shell, because i think, in that way i will begin to understand the linux kernel better.

Thanks so much for your help.

i really appreciate it. !! :)

Hello and welcome to LQ,

You might want to take a look at this HowToForge. This one is for installing Debian Lenny but I've seen others on that site too. Do a search for PXE bootserver and you'll get some more hits.

Hope this helps you out and puts you on the right track for what you need.

Kind regards,

Eric

Hi again. thanks.

and done some searching at the HowToForge.

but it doesnt seems like, theres a guide to Fedora..

i know in linux its almost the same way of installing things on different distributions. But i an a totally NEWBEE :D, and are not thinking the Linux way at the moment.

Unattended http://unattended.sourceforge.net/index.php will let you PXE install Windows but not Linux. You will have to setup something to chose which image you want to boot off of.

There is also FOG, http://www.fogproject.org index.php?...tpage&Itemid=1 which does Windows and Linux.

And for the FOG software (as indicated by uteck) there is a manual at the HowtoForge site. Although it is for Fedora 8 it should get you going. http://www.howtoforge.com/installing...ion-on-fedora8

Kind regards,

Eric
