pureftpd daemon
I downloaded the pure-ftpd-1.0.21.tar.gz and extracted then copied to my /usr/local directory as root and I navigated to the pure-ftpd directory and ran ./configure then make then make install and I had no errors. I went to start the service through yast and it says it isnt installed. What am i missing? I am running suse 10.1 fyi and have pureadmin properly installed but i just get the daemon running. please help and thanks in advance.

I havn't been using suse for a long time, but I assume Yast looks for a script called something like "proftpd" in /etc/rc.d/init.d (or similar) when it tries to start the ftp daemon, you could check if there is such a script in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/.. and in that case, move the script to the proper directory in /etc.
Otherwise I would just recommend you to install a suse rpm build of the ftp server from your nearest suse mirror. |
