Proxomitron equal for linux.

There is this great progrma for windows called proximitron, it bassicly make a proxy on your computer through which you can connect, and it filteres out all ads, banners, etc. I was looking for similar functionality under linux. I used to use MozillaFirebird, and I was happy with the AdBlock extension. But then I switched to Opera. Is there a plugin for Opera, or a standalone program that wiil provide the same functionality?
