Promoxitron equivilent?
 

Hi all

Is there a program does does what Promoxitron does in Windows? For those of you that dont know, its an extensive adblocking program. Offers to kill ads, iFrames, this that and the other, but most importantly, works brilliantly.

PS A while back I stumbled upon a webpage that had a great big lost of Windows programs and the Linux equivilent, but I forgot to bookmark it. Anyone know what i am talking about? TA!

Yes. It's called Privoxy.

I much prefer Proxomitron for several reasons, but #1 is that Proxomitron is much faster than Privoxy is.

However, I do use Privoxy when on the Linux side of my PC.

One suggestion:

If you use FireFox, get the SwitchProxy extension:

https://addons.update.mozilla.org//e...umpg=10&id=125

It easily allows you to switch between proxies, and in the case of Privoxy, you will likely want to switch quickly between No Proxy and Privoxy.
