I have been having issues with programs closing on their own. Screem runs for a while then just closes, Google Earth closes as soon as it starts, and PhotoPrint never actual starts. Most other programs are working fine. I have tried reinstalling but get the same result. I am running Ubuntu intrepid.

Usually that is a sign that the program has crashed. Try starting the program from the command line. After the program crashes there should be some errors listed on the command line. Copy and past those lines back here so we can get some idea as to what is occurring.
