Question Programmable Hotkeys, or USB button pad or something.

My dad is stuck on his WinME with AutoCad and digitizer tablet. I can't seem to move him to anything native in linux because his serial digitizer doesn't have linux drivers.

If I could setup hotkeys for him or have some type of USB device with programmable buttons, I should be able to replace his digitizer.

Does any one know a piece of software to link short cut keys to a series of typed commands or a USB device with programmable buttons to do the task?

Sorry not what I was looking for. I'm looking for something that if I hit "WinKey-X" it will type "open", pause for 2 seconds then type "point" sort of thing.
